Where to get in touch with nature on the Redlands Coast

The Redlands Coast might be only 35 minutes from the centre of Brisbane’s CBD, but its naturally striking landscapes – from rainforest to seaside – feel like a completely new neck of the woods.

Get back to nature in one of the region’s green spaces and parks, visit its many beaches and bays, promenade along its splendid waterfront walks, or visit a dedicated nature-centred space, like Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, Capalaba, to take a deep-dive into the local flora and fauna.

At IndigiScapes, you can visit the Botanic Gardens and Native Nursery, take walks through the sprawling gardens, peruse the occasional eco-markets and fuel up at the popular resident café.

Breathe in and breathe out: the most zen-inducing ways to spend your day

As the adage suggest, ‘a change is as good as a holiday,’ and these immersive relaxation experiences will make you feel as though you’re on a lengthy vacation.

At Cleveland’s City Cave Float & Wellness Centre, guests can choose to book in for a range of soothing treatments, including float therapy, a session in an infrared sauna and revitalising massages. For those new to float therapy, this experience sees you adrift in a pool filled with 400kg (yes!) of Epsom salts.

A nestled in amoungst Clevelands centre is the relaxing endota Spa, Cleveland. This one-stop tranquillity shop offers all the makings of a peaceful day. From reviving massages to beauty treatments (and packages that combine the best of both leisure and beauty), endota Spa will help you enter a state sweet of bliss.

Wander beyond a charming, European-cottage-style shopfront on Cleveland’s Middle Street and enter Stephanie’s Vintage Spa – a wellness destination that epitomises provincial French style (think cosy fireplaces and chandeliers) with a side of life-affirming relaxation. Booking a spa day is easy – but leaving this dreamy cottage is not.

Tap into your creative side while visiting Redlands Coast

In her peaceful Cleveland studio, Carys Martin hosts regular hand-building and wheel-throwing ceramics classes. Renowned for beautifully adorned, earthy ceramic pieces, including cups and delicate ornaments for the home, Carys’s classes have become a must-do for the creatively inclined on the Redlands Coast.

Also in Cleveland is community hub Colour My Pot, where visitors of all ages (and talent levels) can try their hand and at painting pottery, creating board art, working with clay, and more. Or, pick up an art kit at the venue’s shop to give it a go at home.

Restless types, unite! Sports and water activities to try in the Redlands

Ocean views, pristine greens and waterfront beers are all part of a typical day at Club Macleay, Macleay Island’s home of barefoot bowls. After a day on the green, you can recover your energy at Waters Edge Bistro – order the steak with garlic prawns and stay for the sticky-date pudding – overlooking the waters of Coochiemudlo.

Back on the mainland, let out a little bottled energy at 13 Axes in Cleveland – where axe-throwing and mini golf keeps guests entertained. This unique spot is the Redlands Coast’s first (and only) indoor axe-throwing venue and has recently added the 'Smashed Inn' rage rooms to their space.

For those who dream of a seaside adventure, sail your way around Moreton Bay with Aria Cruises. Get up-close and personal with the marine life of the bay and enjoy the ease of being guided and sailed around by the experts. Food is provided, and off-board activities (including paddle boarding) are available too.

If you feel you’re destined for the yacht life, you can book a cruise with Brisbane Yacht Charters. The Cleveland based charter company offers large, luxury vessels for hire – so you can explore the Redlands Coast and surrounding islands in style.

Or, to really get those muscles working, enlist the help of Bay Island Water Sports. Choose to take a tour, book a private lesson, or hire a kayak, water bike, tandem water bike, stepper or a stand-up paddle board for water-bound activities. Choose your own adventure.
